Whew! I've made it to the end of summer! Labor Day weekend we went camping finally. We said we wanted to all summer but didn't get to it till summer was almost over. That's how it goes. We went up north of Seattle to the Jim Creek Recreation Area, which is owned by the US Navy. The base used to hold quite a few active duty folks but there are only a few there now. Most of it has been turned in to a campground. They cabins, hook-ups and tent sites.

Robert had duty on Wednesday night so we actually were able to go up on Thursday night. It was us and a church group in one of the group sites. They provided some lovely worship music that evening while we were eating and going to sleep.

Friday we rented a rowboat and tried the kids' hands at fishing. They didn't catch anything but it was a beautiful day and so we enjoyed sitting on the lake. By the time we got back, half of Washington had moved in and set up camp. Night two was not as peaceful and the first night but we still enjoyed it.

We got up Saturday and packed back up, wanting a couple of days at home that weekend, too. Plus it was supposed to start raining on Saturday. We were tired and little dirty but we had a great time. Hopefully we'll get a chance to go camping in Washington again.
