Two weekends ago was the Fort Leavenworth Fishing Derby. Gabby has been wanting to fish so it gave us a good reason to go. She did pretty well learning how to cast. She

didn't catch a fish but had a good time trying. Maybe next time we'll get a fish!

More pics from July

So now I know just how behind I got back in the summer. So here are some pics from our trip to Nashville in July to drop Gabby and Sam off with Robert's parents. Those are my grandparents with the kids.

St. Louis

Yes, I know, we went to St Louis in JULY. But I just remembered that I never posted any pics. That's four generations of ladies in my family. My grandmother, mother, myself and Gabby. Robert and Gabby went down to the Mississippi to throw rocks in. And here's a pic of the new Busch Stadium for my grandfather, who spent many hours in the old stadium.

Gabby's Room

Part of the joy (?) of moving so often is re-decorating. At least that's what I tell Gabby when I let her pick how her new room will be done. Her room in NC was pink. Very pink and she loved it. When we moved here she chose a forest fairyland like Tinkerbell. So, being short on time and low on cash, we did the best we could to make that happen. I took a bowl from Hobby Lobby and put it over the circa 1963 light fixture. I bought a bolt of purple tulle and we stretched it from the middle out to the walls (we only went half-way down so Sam wouldn't pull it down). I took tons of cheap Wal-Mart flowers, tore them apart and strung them on green yarn to make the vines of flowers, which we draped everywhere and just tied to the tulle. I got two of those small rolls of 6" wide tulle in green and draped them around the outside of the room. There are a few butterflies hanging about. Two blue beaded curtains make a waterfall in front of her closet. A dark green rug and dark green curtains add more green. She has a white mosquito net over her bed, with more butterflies inside. I hung 2-yard lengths of ribbons over her door from an tension rod to make an entrance. Gabby painted the Fairy House, which we hung from the wall for the fairies to visit. Which they do occasionally, leaving a sprinkling of fairy dust for Gabby to find in the morning. It was fun to do and it looks pretty good for an amatuer on a low budget. Next she says she wants Ariel's undersea Atlantica. Here we come, mermaids!

Just in case anyone ever wondered what Jordan would look like in full motion! They had the Puppy Pool party a few weeks ago and Jordan got her chance to swim at the pool. She had a great time once she learned how to jump from the side.

It's soccer time, part two!

Gabby finally had her first soccer games yesterday. You never know how it's going to go, especially when I am explaining that there will only be one ball mere hours before the game. But she did great for the first time and looked cute doing it. Sam wanted to get in on the game too!

I added some pics of Gabby, her class, and Torres - the most popular person in her school. Sam loved on him but I couldn't get their pic together.

Update

Wow - how did two weeks pass and I have not added anything. Oh, yeah, school, soccer, Daisy Scouts, PWOC, Bible Study, Sunday School, sick kids, selling a car, football,...
Yes, we've been busy as usual. Gabby finally started up soccer this week. It was cancelled last week due to rain and it rained on both of their practices this week. I have a few pictures I took Wed that I will have to post. She has also started Daisy Scouts. She loved the idea of "no boys allowed" and has a great time. Her investiture ceremony is in two weeks so we'll have pictures then. School is, well, school. We drop off and pick up. Yesterday she participated in the Freedom Walk and the National Anthem Project. Sam and I walked with her class and had a picnic lunch with them. It was good to meet her friends and see the class.
I have started teaching Sunday School. Teaching is a loose word since I have the older two-year-olds. They didn't much listen to the story but we had fun playing with play-doh, hopping to music and eating crackers. I told them the story anyway - maybe some of it will stick.
Gabby and Sam both had a little virus this week. Gabby was ok after the first day but it stuck with Sam a little longer so we were stuck at home this week. Mommy is wearing out from being at home but he's feeling better.
And we sold our Subaru yesterday. Very sad to see it go. I get emotionally attached to my cars since I drive them so long. I brought my babies home from the hospital in that car. It was a great car for us while starting a family. I do love my van, though. It is much easier to get Sam in and out of so I don't mind running errands as much. And there is room for all five of us, plus our stuff.
So that kind of sums up the last two weeks. I will get some pics up when I can remember it.

It's Soccer Time! (Part One)

We went to Lawrence, Kansas yesterday to see the Auburn Soccer Team play the Kansas Jayhawks. The Tigers lost a tough one on some questionable calls at the end of the game, including a goal that was taken away from them. Despite the disappointment and the hot day, the girls came out to the tailgate area the KC Auburn Club set up and were very gracious and kind to all the kids, taking pictures and signing autographs. Gabby got to see a good game and some great role models right before her first try at soccer starts on Wednesday. Stay tuned for Soccer Time, Part Two.
