Sam's First T-ball Game

Ready to play for the Diamondbacks!
 Warming up
 First hit.
 Still a cutie!
 Bringing it home.
That's my Number 4.

Sam is in T-ball this year. He squeaked in to 5-6 year olds by having his 5th birthday before the first game. Even as the youngest player, he does a great job paying attention and mostly staying out of the dirt. Well, there was that one time he was on third when he filled the third baseman's glove with dirt but I *think* the third baseman asked him to do it. I love T-ball.

Solo Point at Low Tide

I have been meaning to hit the super low summer tides for a couple of years now but always seem to miss them. May's came on the perfect day - the weather was beautiful and the low tide was about an hour after Sam returned from school. We didn't have much time to get somewhere so we grabbed a quick lunch and went to Solo Point so we could drive right up to the beach.  We saw a bunch of starfish in every color, clams, and a bunch of boogery things we couldn't identify. In one spot you could see the pretty stuff out in the water. We couldn't quite walk out to it but could get pretty close. Just as we were loading up the car, the Amtrak came rolling through. That was the closest Sam had been to a train moving fast.

Gabby's First Softball Game

 Warming up
 First At Bat
The team's first hit of the season.
 It was a Double!
Scoring the team's first run of the season.
 Waiting to field.

Gabby's first softball game was last weekend. It was a big debate here to switch over to rec league softball from baseball on post. Gabby has played baseball since she was 5 - before she was even in Kindergarten. It's the one sport she really likes and has stuck with over the years. This is the first year our town is fielding a 10U team so we decided to make the switch. She had a good first game, getting the team's first hit for the season and scoring the team's first run for the season.

Spring Ice Skating

 Sam's Preskate Class
Gabby working on her backwards crossovers in Beta 1
Thanks to some great friends, she now has her own skates and some beautiful costumes. You know she loves that!
Sam - what else can I say?

Yesterday was our third lesson of this session. Sam is in Preskate 3 and Gabby is in Beta 1. There are only two students in Gabby's group this session (the benefits of being able to go on Thursday mornings). Her classmate was in Hawaii this week so she had a private lesson. She was rocking those backwards crossovers. I think today was her favorite day, however, due to the new to her skates and costumes she was given by a friend who skates seriously. She was thrilled to look the part and be in her own skates.
